Academic Results and Assessment

GCSE 2008

In 2008, 11 out of 14 pupils in year 11 achieved 5 grades A*-C (79%), and the majority of those pupils achieved 7-9 A*-C grades.

Our top performing pupil in 2008 achieved A*A*A*A*ABBCC

GCSE Subjects taken at the school in 2008 were - English, English Literature, French, Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, History, Expressive Arts, Drama and Dance.

We are just as proud, however of those who did not achieve 5 grades A*-C but who did achieve to the best of their ability.  Our school does not select on academic ability alone and a pupil who has done their best is just as deserving in our eyes.

All bar one of our 2008 GCSE leavers are now at college or specialist schools studying level 3 courses, either AS Levels, BTEC National Diploma (A Level equivalent), or the 3 year National Professional Diploma in Ballet. One leaver is training to be a Chef on a level 2 course and is joining the RAF.  One leaver achieved a 3 year full Ballet scholarship to Tring Park school.

JUNIOR & SENIOR SCHOOL ASSESSMENT 2009

At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) our pupils took SATS in English, Mathematics & Science, which were marked by the QCA.  This years results were 100% level 4 and above for English, 75% for Mathematics and 88% for Science.

At the end of Key Stage 3 (Year 9) the school assessed pupil’s achievements by Key Stage 3 SATS papers for 2009 in English, Mathematics & Science, which were marked by the school and the results where 100% Level 5 and above for English, 93% for Mathematics & 93% for Science.

These results reflect that the school is continuing to meet the standards that led Ofsted to give an assessment of our previous 3 years SATS & GCSE results as “Commendable”

ICT NEW CLAIT EXAMINATIONS (OCR exam. board)

The school entered this examination for the first time in 2009 and achieved 17 certificated passes for the Level 1 unit in File management and edocument production, and further level 1 and level 2 units are to be taken by years 9 & 10 in 2009.  This will lead to a GCSE equivalent qualification.
